Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A FORMER North Shropshire haulage contractor, now working as a driver for Palethorpes, the meat product firm, has agreed to pay off £500 of his debts of more than £20,000.

Shrewsbury Bankruptcy Court was told that Mr David Littleford (31) of Sycamore Way, Fairfields Estate, Market Drayton, had his original bankruptcy hearing in May 1978 after his haulage contracting business failed.

His statement of affairs showed a deficiency of £20,613. At the hearing on June 22 he agreed with Official Receiver Mr Norris Percy that he had not paid any money since then towards clearing his debts.

He said he had been working for the past four years as a lorry driver, taking home £100 a week.

His wife brought £30 a week into their council house home. They had two children.

Mr Percy asked why he had not paid any money towards his debts. Mr Littleford said he could manage to pay £10 a week and he agreed with the registrar's suggestion that judgment of £500 should be entered against him, with the money to be cleared at that rate.
