HE European Agreement on the Inter1national Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) is not now likely to come into effect before the autumn-of 1906, This follows delays in the revision of the convention on rail transport of hazardous loads (RID) on which ADR is largely based.
In the meantime several countries, including Switzerland and the Federal Republic of Germany, are drawing up their own legislation covering the transport of dangerous goods by road, and Portugal has recently decided to accede to ADR itself.
