DAVID WHITE, formerly managing director of Eastern BRS has been appointed coordinator of the BRS group.

This is one of a number of new appointments and managerial changes within the NFC and follows its recent reorganisation of top management (CM December 26).

Jack Mather, md of Tankfreight has been appointed group co-ordinator, Special Traffics Group, which now includes Tankfreight, and J. W. Sorsby is to be group co ordinator of the new Tempco International Group. He was previously md of Tempco International Ltd.

Dick Teager continues as md of NCL and Alan Monighan remains md of BRS Parcels Ltd. A Parcels and Small Freight liaison unit is to be formed, and its chief officer, yet to be appointed, will report to Peter Thompson, the newly appointed vice-chairman (operations) of NEC. A previous BRS man, Peter Bower, has been appointed marketing and development manager of Unifast International Unilevers freight forwarding and groupage. He gained his international experience with Pickfords International, after leaving BRS.

Honours for road transport men in the New Year's Honours List were down on last year when 21 transport personalities received public recognition for their services.

This year, only one road haulage and two passenger transport people were included. These were William Jackson, formerly head of personnel, BRS Parcels Ltd, who received the MBE, and James Hurst, director of operations, Tyne and Wear PTE (OBE) and Stanley Self, assistant foreman, central works, Western Welsh Omnibus Company Ltd (BEM).

Other awards to people associated with transport included, CBE: Geoffrey Chandler, director, Shell International Petroleum Company, William Hayden, Ford of Britain Ltd, George Baron Hayter, chairman of the International Freight Movement Economic Development Committee; OBE: Allan Aitken, director, product development, Ford Motor Company and P. W. H. Haile, head of road safety division, RoSPA; MBE: John Powell, personnel officer, British Petroleum Co Ltd, and Ernest Wilks, docks manager, British Transport Docks Board, Goole.
