Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LANCASHIRE-BASED Vision Techniques is offering a new 360-degree camera system designed to give the driver an all-round view of the truck while driving.

‘Overview’ uses images from four cameras to create a single image around the truck, removing blindspots and identifying cars, cyclists and pedestrians.

Sales manager Andrew Kendal says the images are cropped together to treat a single image around the vehicle at ground level and uses an audible rear-to-front directional in-cab alarm to warn the driver if something enters the danger zone around the vehicle.

“The camera looks for movement in the image and tells the driver,” he says.

When the driver indicates to turn left or right the camera reverts to a single image focusing on the danger area.

“The alarm only picks out moving objects, not stationary ones like bollards and lamp posts,” he says.

Oxford City Council plans to trial the system with its refuse trucks. A single system costs £1,950 (plus VAT) to it and calibrate.
