Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

In CM, January 19, there is an advertisement for a tyre regroover from Regrooving Equipment and Supplies Ltd. This advertisement states: "Stop throwing money away, save 10-20 per cent on your tyre bills.

I am interested to know who and under what circumstances would use such equipment. I understand that it is a criminal offence to regroove a tyre and use it on a public highway.

If I am correct, surely there should be a note on the legal aspect of this at the bottom of the advertisement, to stop anyone using the regroover to illegal effect.

CHRISTOPHER RUSSELL, Sevenoaks, Kent.

The law concerning the regrooving of tyres applies only to eatyre sizes. — Ed.
