Why Delay the Matter?

Mr. .1. A. Hounsom, the captain of the -Eastbourne Fire Brigade, who is backed by the Watch Committee, is about to purchase a combined fireescape and hose cart, together with 600 ft. of canvas hose, and three fire call-boxes, butt a sub-committee is of opinion that the matter of the purchase of motor fire-equipment can be deferred for the present. Manufacturers will do well to " keep an eye " upon Eastbourne.

Front-driven Electrics.

One of the new Cedes front-wheeldriven electric motor fire-tenders is shown below out during instruction drill with some of the staff from the Wandsworth (West Hill) station. The bodywork is by Bayleys, Ltd., and, when the vehicle is in service, an escape will be added to the equipment. The colossal nature of the fore-part of the car is apparentmore especially so in comparison to the constable standing by. Mr. Otto Kaes, of the Austrian Daimler Motor Co., Ltd.. of 15, Coekspur Street, S.W., which company is supplying the electric vehicles to the L.C.C., is at the wheel. The provision of Never-Skid covers on the tires will be noticed in the illustration.
