y-L:c.:.7 . 13314 QW1i.irbt.LL.Uk TRUCK AND VAN registrations have hit a year high. rising to 22,834 units in November, an increase of 32.5% against the same month last year.

Van registrations have risen steadily since February and the growth continued throughout November with another month of gains, according to latest figures from the SMMT. Sales in vans up to 3.5 tonnes increased by 26.1% for the month, bringing total sales so far this year to 219,866 units LCVs under two tonnes were the best performers, up 37.4% against last November's figure.

Trucks showed the biggest gain with a 79.6% rise, having recorded 3,706 registrations last month. However, year-on-year sales remain down, and are 8.8% lower at 33,378 units.

Following a substantial dip in registrations in October against the previous year, sales in November have recovered, closing the gap on last year's figures to leave total year-to-date registrations down just 4.2%. Sales of three-axle trac

tors led the way, with a 328% increase in sales for the month. while sales of trucks over 6 tonnes also increased significantly, up 977% to 3,149.

S141MT chief executive Paul Everitt says: "November saw the sharpest rise in combined van and truck volumes so far this year as demand continues to recover from a low base, Next year will continue to be challenging as consumer and public spending tighten, keeping rolling volumes well down on prerecession levels However, further moderate growth is expected."
