Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A discussion arose within these confines as to the exact meaning of the words " bi-monthly " and " bi),‘ eekly." 'together, with myself, some other " potent, grave, and reverend seigneurs" in the business department declared that the quoted words indicated twice-a-month and twice-a-week respectively. Some juniors were referred to who promptly declared that " eekly " meant once every two weeks. After this the dictionary was our only refuge, and Young England stood justified. The only consolation left was to try it on one's circle of friends, and mercilessly watch them flounder under the same misapprehension. It goes without saying that the Editorial department knew the precise meaning, so they had to be subjected to a flank attack. I was fresh from a perusal of the dictionary, so I explained sententiously that "Out and Home " no longer made its appearance bi-monthly, but was now a hebdomadary contribution. This floored them, it sounds weird, but of course it only means " once every seven days." " Oh hebdomadary is it ?" said one of the subs. " That accounts for its giving us the hump."

A new limited liability company has been formed under the name of the Anzac Motor Co., Ltd., which will handle the British agency for G.M.C. trucks in addition to the Oakland and Oldsmobile pleasure cars. Mr. W. Turner-Smith is the head and front of this company, and associated with him is Sir Joseph Beecham, of St. Helens. The business will he conducted at the same premises as heretofore, viz., 7882. Brompton Road, S.W., and the new company takes over all assets and liabilities. Mr. W. TurnerSmith will be managing director.

Some three weeks ago we reported on a method of converting a Ford into a one-tanner, and I have Mr. Sutherland Pilch's testimony that the Acason-Ford is meeting with extraordinary and instant success. The Acason truck agent in a town is in many instances a separate organization to the Ford agent, but it has been quickly found that the Aeason is a mutual interest of theirs.

The man who is hounded about from one end of the country to the other, rain or shine, as I am, ocasionally, but very seldom, finds some alleviationI was down in South Wales last week, also in Bath and Bristol, and the emancipation of walking about, at nightfall, in properly lighted an eels can hardly be believed by the denizens of the cities further east. At Bath I felt as if I wero on another planet altogether, and trailed, without purpose, up street, after street, as one did at 21 for the sheer joy of it.

The concertroom of the R.A.C. was given up, on Thursday last, to the Campaign Comfort commodities ; and samples of the articles sent out to the men were displayed in the Entrance Hall, as will be seen by the photograph on this page. The concert was received with much enthusiasm. One of the comedy merchants announced wistfully a song of his own composition, which seemed full of promise, but we had to be content with the title only--" She's only got one tonsil, but she's all the world to me."

Aft-e' at least three years stri%ing, motorbus licence a have been granted for the town of'Nottirigharn.- It is to be understood that Bleridt, Ltd., of Long Acre, is not concerned, or interested, in the Bleriot Manufacturing Aircraft Co., Ltd. No director of the first-named company has, or even had, any interest in aircraft concern.

Export business is reported to be rapidly improving. Inquiries and orders are coming in from India, Straits Settlements, and the East generally. My informant puts this down entirely to the publicity

afforded by -the motor papers.

It may be noted that Straker-Squire vehicles are no longer made at Bristol but at Straker's Twickenham works. The extensive Brazil-Straker factory at Fishponds, Bristol, being almost. entirely devoted to the production of munitions and aeroplanes.

Deliveries are being delayed for what looks, an the face of it, a. very trivial reason. There is a shortage of red paint ; in three months time there will be no more, so colour schemes for bus and van bodies will have to be re-organized. It is, of course, the aniline

dye question again.

A good smart young coachbuilder is at liberty. Educated, scientifically trained, a good designer, he has had charge of coach works (Mulliners and .Austins), is especially skilful at touring cars, but is quite good all round. He is well known to one of the chief members of our staff, who entertains a good opinion of his abilities. Letters addressed " Coach builder " to this office will be forwarded.
