Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THERE are certain types of motor caravan which, perhaps, can hardly be considered as doming within the legitimate -sphere of this journal's activities, being merely used, as they mostly are, for purely recreative purposes, but there are others which have an obvious commercial value. The caravan outfit illustrated On this page is a case in point. This has been supplied to Colonel Lord Glanusk, C.B., C.B.E., 0.5.0., the Commissioner for Wales of the Welsh Boy Scouts' Association, and it is to be used by him for work in connection with organizing and developing the boy scouts' movement in Wales.

The outfit consists of a Vulcan caravan and a two-wheeled trailer caravan. Tha chassis of the prime mover is the 3X-type 30-cwt. model constructed by the Vulcan Motor find Engineering Co. (1906), Ltd., Crossens, Southport, and the bodywork throughout is the product of Eccles Motor Caravans, Ltd., Gosta Green, Birmingham.

The caravan proper is intended for the use of a chauffeur and a servant. Its equipment includes two bunks, a large locker for bedclothes, a wardrobe. a washbowl for' personal use and another for domestic purposes. There is a two-burner Valor Perfection stove installed and the oven is mounted in a metal-lined recess. Numerous lockers are incorporated in the construction of the roof for accommodating the personal belongings of the occupants. Cups, saucers, plates and other crockery are carried in special rattleproof devices in order to reduce the risk of breakage when travelling.

The trailer caravan is for the private use of the owner. In the daytime it forms a sitting-room-cum-office, its equipment including an easy chair and writing-desk. A ,stove is installed so that the interior of the body can be kept warm. The seats which are used are so arranged that they can be converted to form a large single bed at night, and the bedclothes are normally stored below them. The fittings in this part of the outfit comprise a dressingtable with washbowl, a wardrobe with mirror, and a series of cupboards in the roof for clothes, etc.

The main caravan and the trailer are connected by a speaking-tube, so that the occupants of the latter can readily communicate with the driver. When the vehicle is stationary support for the trailer is given by four legs at the corners of the body ; these fold tin when not in use. There is plenty of window space in the bodies of both vehicle and trailer and further top-light is obtained by adopting a clerestory form of construction for the roof of each part of the caravan outfit.
