Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

erroneous impression left by the article headed "Reefermen hot under the collar" (CM 1925 Feb). In my capacity as vice-president of Transfrigoroute International, I was invited to the Transfrigoroute UK meeting to update the members on the activities on the international front.

Among a wide range of topics discussed, the question of the possibility of a quality directive from Brussels for the temperature-controlled transport and distribution business was raised.

The implementation of such a directive would be actively encouraged by both Transfrigoroute International and TUK as it would bring a common level of professionalism to the industry as a whole. This advance of standards for our industry is a fundamental aim of Transfrigoroute.

The last paragraph of the article does not refer to the adoption of the ATP but to developments within the ATP itself which may cause larger-than-necessary refrigeration units to be used.

This would result in higher running costs for the transporter through additional weight, fuel consumption and the possible added nuisance of noise.

All these trends run counter to the aims of Transfrigoroute, and indeed of Thermo King.

Joe Grealy, Vice President, CCT, Transfrigoroute, Galway, Ireland.
