Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Based near Merthyr Tydfil in midGlamorgan, Alan Price has onboard weighers—PM Electronics or Maywood equipment—fitted to eight of his 31 tippers. And he aims to have a system installed on every new vehicle he purchases.

Price points out that weighers help ensure that you don't run illegally, and improve productivity. There is less of a danger that you will run underweight, he says, and if you are currying less than the legally permitted maximum, you're going to lose money. Even if you have just one chassis kitted out, then the savings can be remarkable, Price says: "If that vehicle will take four bucket loads OK, then you know the seven behind it will be OK as well." His Volvos, ERFs, Fodens and Scanias are all eight-wheelers apart from four artics. The trucks haul coal, grain, and stone. The eight-leggers include new lveco Ford 320E34 8x4.

All the weighers he has had installed have proved reliable, he says. They've stood up to the strains and stresses of arduous tipper work, and the damp hasn't got into them; a problem with weighers in the past.
