• Elect Direct, a Northampton company specialising in warehousing and delivering electrical white goods to retailers, has been bought by truck rental and contract hire group Chart Services of Stirling.
Elect runs 17 lorries. Its managing director, Brian Chivers, who will remain in his present job, says the aquisition will mean Elect having "the support of a major company".
Chart, which owns over 2,000 vehicles, operates through two divisions, Chart Hire Services and Chart Distribution Services.
