Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

OPPOSITION from the Scottish Bus Group and British Rail to plans by Clan Garage (Kyle) to operate a service between the Isle of Skye and Glasgow has been dropped.

The company had applied to operate the service under the authority of nine separate licences and was originally opposed by Highland Omnibuses, W. Alexander and Sons (Midland) and BR.

The company's managing director, Arthur MacRae, told CM that the service had been split into nine sections for licensing purposes because each section had its own peculiarities. The plan also had the advantage of qualifying the service for fuel tax rebate.

The proposals would have the effect of increasing facilities between Skye and Fort William although the company wanted to keep the operation as much akin to an express operation as it CO uld.

The objections were dropped after the company had indicated that it would not be charging any fare less than £1.
