CONTINUING its policy of producing specialised chassis based on its range of 16.18 Delta trucks, Hestair Dennis of Guildford is to build five 6 x 2 rigid chassis for outside broadcast vehicles for the BBC.
Designated Delta 2222, the 6 x 2 twin-steer extended wheelbase trucks will be equipped with two 6.09-tonne capacity front axles and a single 10.16tonne capacity rear drive axle. Plated weight of the vehicles will be 22.35 tonnes and all units will have a 6.5-metre (21.32ft) outside wheelbase.
Each vehicle will be powered by a Perkins TV8-540 turbocharged engine rated at 179kW (240bhp) equipped with an Allison five-speed automatic transmission.
