PILCHER-Green of Burgess Hill Sussex, specialist in field ambulance bodywork, has just completed the first ambulance body to be constructed on a Stonefield 4x4 chassis.

The fully automatic ambulance is available with a threelitre or five-litre engine and is intended for operation over rough terrain and normally inaccessible locations and is built with an all-welded rectangular hollow steel frame, designed to withstand the loads imposed in roll-overs.

Accomodation is provided for four stretcher cases or alternatively up to eight seated patients, plus further seating capacity for two medical attendants.

The basic design allows the stretchers to be positioned between the two axles, offering the best locations for a comfortable ride.

A low platform height allows adequate headroom and ease of access through the rear loading doors.

The outside of the ambulance is clad with aluminium and the interior with plastic laminate panelling. It is fully insulated but air conditioning comes as an optional extra.
