Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Optimism increased in October, up to 58 from 43 in September, the highest score for 18 months.

Of the respondents, 77% said they were either very optimistic or fairly optimistic about their business’s prospects over the next 12 months, while 19% were either not very optimistic or not at all optimistic. Own-account operators were the most positive, registering an optimistic/not optimistic split of 82/15 (a significant improvement over last month’s 67/28).

Logistics and contract distribution firms were not far behind, with a split of 81/14 (against 86/14 last month).

Hire and reward hauliers were a little happier than last month, improving from 63/36 to 66/29.
