At the beginning of the month, the Northern Ireland Transport Board took over 10 further passenger and freight services, employing 59 buses, 21 lorries and 142 employees. • The Board now controls 490 buses and 170 lorries, and employs 1,450 persons. It is expected that, by the end of the year, all the services in Ulster coming within its co-ordinating activities will he under the jurisdiction of the Board.

Armstrong-Saurer Service in Manchester Area.

The service arrangements hitherto operated by Armstrong-Saurer Cornmercial Vehicles, Ltd., from Reddish, near Stockport, are now being carried on by Blakes Motors, Ltd., Blackfriars Road, Manchester, which has been appointed the service agent for the company in the area previously covered by its own Manchester depot. The present staff has been transferred, and Mr. H. A. Withey, the depot manager, is available at Blakes Motors, Ltd.

Major H. R. Lecomber, the northern sales superintendent, is continuing to represent the Armstrong-Saurer concern, on the sales side, in the Manchester area.

Charged under the Perjury Act with making a false statement in his record of work and journeys, a Bradford lorry driver appeared at Halifax West Riding Court and was committed for trial at Leeds Assizes.

Pannell, Ltd., and William Ardley, Ltd., each of which has ordered' a Unipowered Bedford. The.vehicles are all Glonners.
