UNDERLINING the current trend in coachwork design towards the truly all-purpose maximum-capacity vehicle, a new coach body designed and built by Mann Egerton and Co., Ltd., 5 Prince of Wales Road, Norwich, provides comfortable accommodation for 43 passengers but still has lines and equipment suitable for express or stage-carriage work. The first example has recently been completed on an A.E.C. Regal Mk. IV chassis for Creamline Motor Services (3ordon), Ltd., Aldershot.

Reasonable weight, neat appearance and good finish have been combined in the vehicle, which weighs 7 tons 18 cwt. unladen. Steel framing with hardwood inserts is employed, although the roof is framed and panelled in light alloy. The outer roof skin is stressed, and the interior is lined with plywood in the centre with 22-gauge mild-steel sheet at the sides.

Full-length luggage racks run above the seats on each side of the body and there is a large luggage locker at the rear. The seats themselves are 'based

on Accles and Pollock tubular framings with rug rails and foot rests, and incorporate foam-rubber cushions and soft headrolls. A sliding roof, heating and ventilating equipment and radio may be installed.

In the vehicle delivered to Creamline, the door, which is ahead Qf the front axle, is of the hinged type opening inwards, but a jack-knife door may be specified.

The same operator has taken delivery of a third half-deck 48-seater based on a Crossley forward-engine chassis
