Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THAMES DELAYS

• Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys to the Channel ports or Gatwick as work starts on a 127.6 million scheme to widen a Thames crossing near the Dartford Tunnel.

The Department of Transport says enlarging the A282 bridge from six to eight lanes will double capacity, but the work will take 27 months and cause long delays in each direction. Two lanes each way will be open during peak periods.
