ESSEX independent bus an coach operators took the ma jor awards for the in-servici vehicle section at the annua Eastern National Preservatioi Group rally at Southend las weekend.
Hedingham and Distric Omnibuses took the to] awards in both the post-197 and pre-1970 classes for in service psv. The post-1971 award went to a 1974 Bedfori YMT Plaxton and the pre-197 award to an ex-Eastern Nation al Bristol FLF double-decke dating from 1962 and in pris tine condition. This bus is sti regularly used on school con tracts.
Runner-up for both award was S&M Coaches of Thun dersley with a Plaxton-bodie Leyland Leopard in the posi 1970 class and a 1949 Bedfor 08 coach taking second plaC in the pre-1970 class.
