A NEW way to deliver sh was demonstrated to clothing industry last week, specialist transport comp Tibbett and Britten.

Under new plans, Shirts be delivered hanging fr rails installed in the compi distribution fleet much same as garments includ coats and dresses.

Tibbett and Britten man g director Alan Richards told e industry that savings of up almost 20p per dozen shirts distribution costs plus klitional savings in packagg costs were possible.

Shirts will be distributed 3rn the makers using the ttionwide system of depots tilt up by T and B to local stribution points where miler high street delivery vehicles will take over.

But reaction from clothing retailers was cool. One large retailer saw problems of keeping garments clean with no protective outer box.

There were also questions to Mr Richards about how T and B felt about the inevitable redundancies of shirt packing workers. But he made it clear that the company felt no guilt.
