IN his annual report to the transport committee, Mr. Thomas Lord, general manager of Leeds City Transport, revealed that although 9m. fewer passengers were carried by the undertaking in 1965 there was an increase in revenue of £266,239. This was due to higher fares which came into operation in May of last year.
The actual number of passengers carried in the year ended March 31, was 195,896,794 compared with 205,240,461 in the previous year. Surplus for the year was £36,455, making £40,911 with the surplus brought forward from last year. Of this, £36,019 had been transferred to the renewals and accident fund, leaving a net accumulated surplus at March 31 this year of £4,892.
