VARIOUS CHANGES have occurred at Carpet Express and Carpet Europe, both companies in the Lex Service Group.
Ken Davies has become the new managing director of Carpet Express, taking over from Brian Martin who leaves to take up a more senior position as divisional manager for Specialist Transport and in charge of three Lex Service Group companies.
Mr Davies has been in the distribution industry all his working life. He joined the Vestey Group in 1953 where he was involved in freight forwarding and domestic transportation.
In 1972 he joined Baker Britt as acting managing director, continuing in freight forwarding until 1977, when he joined the Lex Service Group's Albany Freight as general manager. In 1980 he was made general manager of Freight and Transport. His last position was general manager of Wilkinson Transport which he gained in 1980.
The Carpet Europe facility of Carpet Express has taken on Margit Ward as marketing assistant responsible for the UK and European markets. Danishborn Margit will include market research as one of her specific areas of responsibility.
