Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

LOW-LOADERS with knock-out axles have mostly taken the form of having four wheels in line. it is unusual to see a low-loader with tandem axles which can be detached, as illustrated below. This semi-trailer produced by R. A. Dyson and Co. Ltd. for service in Nigeria is one of a pair of almost identical twins. Local conditions of bridge capacities and restricted widths dictated this design and the trailers. coupled to Leyland Super Hippo tractive units, have capacities of 25 tons and 30 tons respectively.

When the rear bogie is removed. the cut-outs arc filled by ramps that greatly facilitate the loading of mobile equip ment. The deck of both trailers is of tropicalized " hardwood and there is a clear area between the neck and the wheels of 18 ft 8 in.; the rear section between the wheels is tapered off and forms the loading ramp when the body is lowered to the ground.

A hand-operated winch, with a doublepulley snatch-block is provided, and the main side-members are fitted with ramping ledges to allow side loading.

Walking-beam suspension is used, giving a high degree of diagonal articulation. There are no springs. The tyre equipment is 14.00 by 20 in single formation and braking is by twin-line air pressure on all wheels.
