Removing Lead from Batteries

A COMPOUND which, it is claimed, r-1 will remove lead sulphate from the plates of an apparently "dead" battery, enabling them to take up and retain a full charge, is offered by Holt Products, Ltd., New Addington, Surrey. It is known as Battery Flush and is available in sizes. costing 7s. 6d. and 12s. 6d. for 6v. and 12v. batteries respectively.

Holt's de-icing liquid for use on windscreens, door locks, brake linkages and similar trouble spots is now offered in an Aerosol spray can at 5s, 6d.

Hand Basin Unit APART from the provision of water, waste piping and electricity, the Washnow hand-washing unit manufactured by D. E. Lewis and Company, Morda Road. Oswestry, Shropshire, is self-contained. It consists of a stainlesssteel hand basin mounted on a steel cabinet 2 ft. 9 in. high. The unit contains

an instantaneous water heater. A pedal controls the flow of water to the heater and thence to the spraying nozzle fitted above the basin.

The unit is robust, pilfer proof and, as no plug is fitted to the basin and all washing is carried out with running water. is largely self-cleaning. 'It costs £55.

Warning Light THE Moflash beacon manufactured by the Silvaflatne Co., Ltd., 218a Monument Road, Birmingham, 16, can be attached to vehicles to indicate, for instance, a wide load. Six torch batteries provide the current for the neon tube employed in the lamp and these are claimed to last for 500 hours.

Light from the beacon, which flashes 80 times per minute, can be amber or red. It costs £14 I5s. and a universal mounting bracket which can be padlocked into position to prevent theft is priced at £25s.

Rotary Sander rtA SANDING attachment for electric drills known as the Super Sander is manufactured by B. and L. Electrical Services, 67 Victoria Road, Scarborough. The sanding head consists of a shank carrying a solid hub surrounded by a ring of sponge rubber. The circular abrasive

belt is attached to the periphery of the rubber ring with adhesive.

• This provides a resilient sanding surface which can adapt itself to most contours. The tool is said to be particularly suitable for smoothing operations during bodywork repair. The sander, which can be fitted to any drill capable of standing on to the side-thrust. costs 14s. 6d.
