A NUMBER of changes of appointment have been made within the British Motor Corporation, Ltd.

Mr. A. V. Oak, director and chief mgineer of Morris Motors, Ltd., who sal been ill, has asked to be relieved 3f his directorship, but has agreed to 3e available as technical consultant. Mr. G. M. Palmer, chief engineer of Morris Motors, Ltd., has become group Indy and chassis designer responsible for both Morris and Austin designs. He is to be made a local director.

Mr. J. R. Woodcock, production nanager, Morris Motors, Ltd., is now assistant to Mr. R. F. Hanks, the vicechairman, and will become a local

director. Mr. G. Argyle, chief designer of Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., has been made group commercial-vehicle designer jointly with Mr. H. King, superintendent of commercial-vehicle design of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd.

Mr. G. C. Tuck, general sales manager of Nuffield Exports, Ltd., has been appointed director and general manager of the Austin Motor Export Corporation. Mr. L. A. Beare, formerly European representative of Nuffield Exports. Ltd.. has taken the position Mr. Tuck has vacated.

Mr. R. E. T. Couch, works manager of Morris Motors, Ltd., has assumed the additional functions of senior production executive.' The works superintendent, Mr. E. S. Lord, has been appointed production supplies manager and is succeeded by Mr. G. A. Walker, whose post as chief rate-fixer has in turn been taken over by Mr. W. F. Bowker.

Mr. J. R. Edwards has been made works director of the Austin Motor Co.. Ltd., and his general works managership has been given to Mr. G. A. Durant, formerly chief buyer. This position has been assumed by Mr. D. Jackson, previously assistant chief buyer.

The managing director of the Austin Motor Export Corporation, Mr. J. F. Bramley, has in addition been appointed a total director of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., in charge of home and export sales and service. Mr. C. S. Buck ley. home sales manager, Austin Motor Co., Ltd., is to retire on March 31 and will be succeeded by Mr. J. W. R. Penrose.

Mr. J. R. Rix, a local director and technical manager of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., is to relinquish his duties and become director of research and development for the group. Mr. W. Appleby, at present in charge of Austin engine design, has been appointed chief designer, engines and gearboxes, for the group. This is a new post.

Dr. J. H. Weaving, at present in charge of research, will in future confine his activities to the development of gas turbines. Mr. T. G. Bradley, a local director of the Austin Motor Co., Ltd., has been appointed controller ol stock and work-in-progress for the manufacturing companies of the group. Mr. R. D. Niven has become works manager of the commercial vehicles division, which has recently been installed at Cofton Hackett.
