be told that a larger proportion of coal was to be railborne, in view of the• present difficulties in road haulage, suggested by Mr. Harold Neal (Labour, Bolsover) in the Commons last week. This, he said, would eliminate the possibility of a fuel crisis when adequate supplies of coal were available in the producing areas.
But he was told by Mr. John Peyton, Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Power, that choice of transport normally rested with the buyer of coal and not with the Board.
"Weather affects both rail and road transport ", said Mr. Peyton. " Both have been indispensable during the cold weather."
