letter in Commercial Motor on 24 November with regard to the current levels of parts and service support for non-current Bedford trucks.

At this time, and recognising the very valid issues raised in this letter, we believe it may be worthwhile to reaffirm General Motors' position with regard to the very considerable number of non-current Bedford commercial vehicles operating in the UK.

During early 1987 130 Bedford authorised service dealers were appointed in all of the key areas. These dealers signed a five-year agreement, with the option on a further five years, to provide levels of service and parts support in line with that which was available prior to December 1986.

In addition to this, a full-time senior owner relations engineer was appointed to provide technical support in terms of type approval, certification and service fixes. For the most part all contact is maintained through the Bedford dealer network; however, should it become necessary, our resident engineer is available to assist operators directly. This can of course be arranged with your local Bedford authorised service dealer.

Turning to the provision of replacement parts, this is certainly being maintained to ensure that the proper levels of stock are available through the appointed dealers and you may rest assured that General Motors is fully committed to its original promise to continue to provide parts support for a 10year period from December 1986.
