/UTLINE PROPOSALS for improving the route of the A34 in iampshire, south of Newbury, have been released by the /epartment of Transport.
The A34 carries a large amount of heavy goods vehicle traffic rom the Midlands to Southampton. But five miles south of lewbury at Whitway the existing single carriageway is narrow Tith "poor vertical and horizontal alignment", says the DTp.
