BELGIAN MOTORWAY toll have been delayed again saving heavy lorries up to 001 a year, reports our Brussel! correspondent.

The scheme, which woul make Belgium the third EE country to charge motorwa tolls, was planned to help mee the growing budget deficit But the Belgian Transpor Minister told CM: "Technica problems will prevent us fro charging fees from January as we planned."

The EEC Commission ha admitted that there is nothin in the community's rule book to prevent Belgium from introducing tolls.

Belgium has still to finalise the tolls, but one unconfirmed report last week suggested that heavy lorries would be charged E300 per year. Drivers of foreign vehicles would buy a cheaper single-journey ticket at the border.
