The box parts into two, le a chassis, c and platform floor, etc, the whole Mt weighing less than 3 tons. It is a vehil for private use and Jam over 21.

A The requirements for licensing drive of heavy goods vehicles are contain' in Part IV of the Road Traffic Act 1972. Briefly, an hgv driving licence is requir to drive a mechanically propelled vehic if it is constructed to carry goods or burd of any description, when the unladen weig of that vehicle exceeds 3 tons.

Section 194 of the Act, in laying dm the method of calculating the weight of mot vehicles and trailers, states that ". weight unladen of a vehicle or trailer sh be taken to be the weight of the vehicle trailer inclusive of the body and parts . . . which are necessary to or ordinar used with the vehicle or trailer when world on the road .. .".

The vehicle which you purchase will used "ordinarily" to carry horses whi cannot be carried on a flat wagon and 1 box will be "necessary" to the vehicle wli you are driving it.

In the circumstances, if the weight of1 whole vehicle including the box exceeds tons unladen, you will require an hgv licer to drive it.
