• Following last week's announcement of two Transit-based tippers, Ford has now announced, as additions to its range, pick-up and dropside truck versions of all six basic Transit models-8ft 10in. wheelbase, 12, 17 and 22cwt chassis /cab models and the 9ft 10in. wheelbase, 25, 30 and 35cwt chassis /cab versions.

The two body types are of all-steel welded construction and the pick-ups have full-depth sides, a flat floor, valanced wing apertures and a full-width tailboard. Internal dimensions of the pick-up bodies on 8ft 10in, wheelbase versions are 8ft lin. length, 5ft 6in. width and 1ft 6in. depth. Comparable figures on the 9ft 10in, chassis are 9ft 10in., 5ft 6in and 1ft 6in. respectively.

In the case of the dropside bodies, the headboards, sides and tailboards are completely removable as no corner posts are fitted; a completely flat platform can be achieved if required. Internal dimensions are 8ft 1in. long, 5ft 9.75in. wide and 1ft 4.5in. dcrap for the 8ft 10in, wheelbase models and Sit 9.75in., 6ft 2.75in. and 1ft 4.5in. for the 9ft 10in.

Recommended retail prices for the bodies are: pick-up body, Bft 10in. wheelbase, £100; 9ft 10in. wheelbase, £136; dropside body, 8ft 10in. wheelbase, £90; 9ft 10in, wheel-base, E110. The basic chassis cab prices of the Transit are: 12cwt, £608; 17cwt, £621; 22cwt, £662; 25cwt, £762; 30cwt, £787; and 35cwt, £827.
