Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

National Carriers has realised that many employees have do-it-yourself skills — and has utilised them in converting a new workshop at Derby.

Carpentry at the workshop was done by leading depotman George Appleyard; steelwork and welding was prepared by John Brennan, an internal driver; supervisor, Ron Warren, was responsible for painting; and another supervisor, Albert Buckley, undertook concreting and bricklaying.

I wonder how many different union cards were represented by this conversion exercise, and suspect we have not heard the last of it.

The workshop is needed for the servicing of 300 vehicles and is a converted stables originally built in 1939. I thought horses and drays were superseded by then! No wonder the old Rail Sundries outfit clocked up huge deficits.
