of the National Association of Furniture Warehousemen and Removers:— Standing charge, 4s, an hour; running charge, 18. a mile; drivers and foremen, 6s. per hour per man; other staff, 5s. 9d. per hour per man.

In computing new cost figures, repainting has been regarded as a standing charge and depreciation has been spread over 10 years, instead of five years.

It is proposed to issue a new schedule suitable as the basis of an agreed focal scale for distances up to 40 miles a day. It will be embodied in the final proposals on charges which, as reported in The Conunervial Motor on March 11, are to be considered at the Association's conference at Bournemouth in May.

Where a remover has a van in a particular area and canvasses for a return load, the following rates are suggested: 22s. 6d. per 100 Cu. ft. for terminal charges) ls. 9d. a mile (one way) for transport, plus Is. 9d. a mile for diversion mileage, for a van with at least a driver and foreman. For loads between 200 Cu. ft. and 500 cu. ft. the rate would be reduced proportionately.

The suggested charge for hiring labour, as between members of the Association, is 5s. 6d. per hour per man, with a minimum period of three hours, On Bank Holidays (minimum of eight • hours) and Sundays (minimum of 5i hours) the charge would be 9s. 3d. In the case of members in the same neighboorhood, the proposed charge is 5s., and 8s. 9d. an hour on Bank Holidays and Sundays.

The Association's Northern Area has decided on an hourly charge for removals of 27s. for a van, driver and two men, or, where an estimate is based on the capacity of the load, a rate of 25s. per 100 cu. ft. guarded secret,
