I would like to call on all international operators to support an action, in line with the French at Calais. I believe that we should join together and stand side by side with them ln a blockade in Calais until such a time as the government backs down, however long this may take. While this may sound extreme it will get results.

If you have seen the recent protest by the French fishermen over their fuel duty, you will see people who think for themselves and who will not accept their livelihood being threatened by costs that will force them into an uncompetitive situation. We on the other hand are at a massive disadvantage, and have been for some time, yet we just seem to accept it.

We should call on all trade unions and organisations from all member states of the European Union to act with one voice, and by first approaching the French we can start making real progress on these most basic of issues.

This is going to be a tough fight, but you really do have to stand up for what you believe During any type of industrial action profits will suffer but please think of the long-term benefits that will be achieved and the thousands that you will be able to put back into your businesses.

am open to any suggestions of any alternatives that may succeed and regardless of what initiative we take we must shelve any personal or commercial differences and work with each other without argument to achieve our basic rights. It is in everyone's best interests.

would like to hear from anyone who supports this and hope that the UK's trade associations will also get involved to some degree in making this happen.

Other European countries are sympathetic to our plight and, I think, would agree that industrial action on Our part is long overdue. Negotiations must be made to ensure full cooperation with the French on these matters, but it all begins with your support.
