A NEW commercial vehicle leasing concept in Singapore has resulted in an order for 30 Scania P82M lorries and 6m container trailers, for the recently appointed Scania distributor Scantruck Engineering.
The concept is that the trucks will be leased to private operators for most of the year, but for a short period the lessor will rent the trucks back for its own use.
The company which purchased the units, SAL Leasing, has been in the leasing business for four years. But, it only recently decided to ex
pand into commercial vehicle leasing.
One of SAL's largest private-sector leasing customers is Warehousing and 'Transportation, which is one of Singapore's leading freight forwarding companies.
Warehousing and Transportation has signed a longterm lease for 15 of the lorries. The units are already transporting 6m and 12m containers from Singapore's docks to Warehousing and Transportation's storage depot, and from there to all points on the island.
