IN addition to other new models, which I will be announced later, Show exhibits of The Austin Motor Co.,. Ltd., will include a 17-ton prime mover, a petrolengihed hire-car, an ambulance chassis and a short-wheelbase tipper chassis with a high-access cab.

The FFK 340 forward-control 17-ton gross-train-weight prime mover is additional to the FFK 360 18-ton unit and is fitted with the B.M.C. 5.7-litre engine as standard equipment, together with a five-speed gearbox and two-speed rear axle. Tyre equipment comprises 7.50 by 20 12-ply covers, arid dimensional details include a wheelbase of 95 in., art overall length and width of 171 in. and 89 in. respectively and a cab height of approximately 92.5 in. The frame4o-ground height is 28 in. and the vehicle has a turning circle of 37 ft. The fuel tank has a capacity of 26 gal.

The B.M.C. 2.2-litre petrol engine is now offered as an optional fitting to the Austin hire-car in place of the company's 2.2-litre diesel unit. Power output of the petrol engine is 68 b.h.p. at 3,800 r.p.m., compared with an output of 55 b.h.p. at 3,500 r.p.m. provided by the diesel, respective torques being 116 lb-It. at 1,700 r.p.m, and 89 lb.-ft. at 2,800 r.p.m.

Produced in chassis/front-end and chassis-scuttle form, the new AustinMorris FG ambulance chassis has a

wheelbase of 10 ft. 9 in., an overall length of 17 ft. 1 in., and is equally suitable for town or country work. It is available with the company's six-cylinder 4-litre petrol engine developing 90 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m. or the 3.4-litre fourcylinder diesel, having an output of 68 b.h.p. at 2,600 r.p.m. Details include a four-speed gearbox and 20-gal. fuel tank.

Known as the FFK 100, a 5-ton shortwheelbase chassis will be shown having a wheelbase of 10 ft. The high-access cab is similar to that fitted to other models of the FF range.
