THE number of vehicles registered -for operation under C licences during August, 1949, was 8,903. Of this total the number of new vehicles was 6,302, a decrease of 173 from the July figure. A total of 2,601 vehicles was licensed for existing fleets and. the
• number of new operators in that month was 3,754.
Of the newly registered vehicles, 2,414 were for retail delivery work and 1,917 to operate within a 25-mile radius. The August figures bring the grand total of C-licence vehicles to 652,780. of which 359,712 have capacities of 30 cwt, or less.
