Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• More than 100 operators have been contacted for breaching a weight restriction in a Northamptonshire village, police have revealed. The hauliers are accused of breaching a 7.5-tonne weight limit on Main Road in Wilby, Wellingborough in September, after members of the public passed their registration numbers to the police.

• Plans to develop a truckstop near Spalding, Lincolnshire, have been thrown out by councillors. An application to develop a lorry park alongside the A16 in Cowbit, which would have included a cafe, shop, and shower facilities, was rejected by councillors at South Holland District Council in a meeting last week. They believed it would "result in harm to residential amenities". A similar application for the same site was also rejected last year, with a subsequent appeal being dismissed in April.

• Pall-Ex has recruited Renfrew-based Link Transport & Warehousing to cover some of the G and PA postcode areas in its network. Link Transport is working alongside Bullet Express and Mitchell Logistics covering the Glasgow area, and alongside Bullet Express alone for the PA postcode.

• In CM 30 May we reported that Danny Steven Sawrij, the former director of Alba Transport, was fined £300,000 and ordered to pay £150,000 costs for falsifying driver records following a hearing at Kirkless Magistrates' Court on 23 May. CM would like to clarify that the actual charge was for not keeping proper records and that, on appeal, the fine was reduced by £85,100.
