Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

tollby Paul Brockington • There was a roar of laughter at the Wolverhampton prize-giving on Sunday when M. Richards of Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries Ltd was awarded the trophy donated by rival brewer Mitchells and Butlers Limited for winning Class C. Deservedly, he was also the overall winner. In the run-off he lost 60 points, six points more than during his class manoeuvring tests, the remaining 60 being lost in the Highway Code test. The average number of points lost by Class winners in the Highway Code tests was around 120. A Mitchells and Butlers driver, T.

King Humphries, won Class B with a loss of 254 points.

While S. Jones (Aldridge) Ltd entered six of the 13 vehicles in Classes F. and G, the company did well to win these classes with losses of 190 and 210 points respectively. The Class F victor, G. Griffiths, lost 90 points in the Highway Code test, and R. Baker, Class G, 150.

Last year's overall winner, A. Fletcher, won his class 1E1 again this year with a loss of 198 points, 150 on the Highway Code. He lost none on the route, and his 48 on the manoeuvring tests was better than Richards's. So he starts near favourite as the Wolverhampton round driver who could win the Final.

S. H. Whitton of Total Oil (GB) Ltd pushed a barrier over while reversing his AEC/Gloster Saro artic tanker during the run off. He had won Class H with a loss of 98 points in the manoeuvring tests (and 160 in Highway Code test) and so could obviously be a finals winner with a bit of luck. Mr Whitton told CM that he had had no accidents and no police prosecution since he started driving in 1938!
