JEFFREY, who has resigned after 28 years with the company, to take up another appointment. Mr. Fletcher, who joined Leyland in 1924, will be succeeded at the M.o.S. factory by MR. P. J. Turtsma.

MR. H. Borrom.Ev, general manager of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and managing director of W. C. Standerwick, Ltd., was presented with a longservice certificate by Ribble's chairman, MR. R. P. BEDDOW, at a dinner in Blackpool last week. Mr. Bottomley began in transport as an office boy with Huddersfield Transport Department. He was appointed assistant to the managing director of Ribble in 1929, and became general manager in 1944.

MR. L. WALKER, transport manager of British Celanese, Ltd., Derby, and CLLR. S. W. BalmEs, chairman of Leicester Transport Committee, have been appointed members of the Transport Users' Consultative Committee for the East Midland Area. MR. R. ELAND has been appointed transport manager of the Blaydon Cooperative Society. Mr. Eland has been divisional engineer of Durham County Fire Brigade for the past four years.

MR. WALTER PICKERING has been appointed managing director of Clarkson and Co. (Scotland), Ltd. For the past 20 years he has been sales manager and later sales director. The company are amongst the oldest tyre distributors in Scotland, MR. FRED MOORHOUSE has been presented with a gold watch in recognition of his long service to the Huddersfield Sub-area of the Road Haulage Association. Ma. G. J. ABRAHAM has been elected chairman and MR, J. A. HILL vice-chairman of the Southern Area.

MR. P. E. R. GRAEFE, general manager of Maidstone and District Motor Services, Ltd., and their subsidiaries, is to retire at the end of the year because of ill health. Mr. Graefe has been with the British Electric Traction group for 47 years, 40 of which have been spent with Maidstone and District, which he joined as secretary in the company's infancy.

MR. B. T. BENNETT has been elected chairman of the South Wales Division of the Traders' Road Transport Association. The newly elected vicechaitmart is MISS E. D. ROGERS. MR.

F. E. HILTON has been elected chairman of the Yorkshire (Hull) Division, and MR. H. HODSON and MR. S. CHARITY, vice-chairmen. The Eastern Area have re-elected MR. E. WOOD as chairman.
