A copy of the latest catalogue issued by the Warner Autometer Co., 211, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, W.C., is to hand. The " Coburn " System of Overhead Runway.

A remarkable business has been built up by the British Trolley Track Co., Ltd., the maker of the "Coburn" system of sliding door gear. All those who keep their eyes open when they are out and about will have noticed the increased employment of big underhung doors for sheds, garages and other buildings of all kinds in recent years. The company we have in mind has done more to perfect this class of fitting than any other concern in the country.

It has occurred to Mr. E. A. Goddard, the managing director, that a certain amount of business which his company has been putting through for overhead runways clearly indicates a considerable demand for such plant in garages and repair shops, and in view of the fact that the sliding-door tackle employs fittings and units which are of types that are requisite for overhead runways, Mr. Goddard has made arrangements to specializ. in plant of this kind for motor-vehicle premises. We illustrate herewith an example of the class of tackle which is suggested. •

We need only add that those of our readers who are interested in this class of gear cannot do better than write direct to the company at 44, Southwark Street, S.E., quoting their requirements, giving clearly the particulars of the beams and other overhead supports to which it is desired_tn atta,ch the runway. From a Heavy chassis units are easily handled. conversation which we had with Mr. Goddard, we are confident that such inquiries will receive prompt and expert attention. Runways of this kind, in depots where engines and other heavy units have to be lifted from chassis and taken from one part of a big shop to another, or from one department to another, are capable a saving a great deal of tune and wear. Where space is congested, it is often the only possible way of transporting heavy units from place to place in the shops. There is so often no room for trolleys or tram track.

The Aveling Weather Screen.

The Aveling weather screen, as manufactured by T. C. Aveling and Co. (Birmingham), Ltd., New Canal Street, Birmingham, is now being extensively adopted by many classes of industrial-vehicle users. Many public-service machines are also fitted with this -device.

The screen consists of two uprights from the dashboard, connected to the canopy, between which is swung an open frame, adjustable to any angle or height instantaneously. There is no glass in the device.

At the top and bottom of the frame is fitted a detachable roller blind, made of strong Rexine. On pulling the bottom of the frame towards the driver, the screen forms an extension of the canopy as well as an apron covering for the steering-wheel, leaving a slot through which the driver has a clear view of the road yet affording him ample protection against wind and rain.

The advantages of the Aveling weather screen for vehicles running on steel tires are self evident ; there is no risk of cracked glass.
