/ Vauxhall has won two orders for the Astramax and Astravan. The West Midlands Fire and Civil Defence Authority has taken delivery of 10 Astramax diesels for use as front-line support vehicles; British Rail has placed a £4.5m order for 644 Astravans.
The vans, all diesel, will be used for maintenance duties.
Vauxhall supplied British Rail with 400 vans last year. The vehicles will be supplied through the Charles Kent Group of Sheffield and Martin Walker EKV of Kent.
