• Despite its declared intention to expand its interest in waste management, NFC has ruled out making a bid for Biffa because it believes the asking price of ,2250m is too high.
NFC chairman James Watson says that acquisitions should preferably fall into the price range of £50-80m. "We have looked at Biffa", he says, "but we are definitely not a player any longer."
