VIAN-VW Truck and Bus

George Burrows is to retire at the end of this month after 13 years as the Road Haulage Association's security officer. He spent 30 years in the Metropolitan Police, and is now joining Davco Instrumentation and Security as its security liason executive.

Obituaries

We record with regret, the deaths of Cyril Buckley and John Mort.

Mr Buckley, formerly managing director of London Country Bus Services Ltd joined the industry as a trainee with Crosville Motor Services Ltd in 1929. He later worked for the Bristol Group or companies but returned to Crosville as general manager and director in 1965. He became managing director of London Country in 1970 and also served as a member of the National Bus Company Executive Board from 1969 to 1972. He retired in 1976.

John Mort, who was 60, was recently appointed north area general manager of Greater Manchester Transport. He joined Leigh Corporation in 1942.
