Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A spring-cushioned fifth-wheel coupling ith an adjustable mounting has been introuced by the British Trailer Co. Ltd. A hoice of five positions is provided (with ositive location) and operation is by turnig two handwheels, one for the locking techanism, the other to alter the position of Le coupling on its slides.

Kingpin locations possible with the BTC asign range from 9in. to 21in. ahead of the active-unit rear-axle centre-line, in increlents of 3in. Adjustment can be made with Le tractor and semi-trailer coupled or un)upled. A long, square-threaded screw, ins longitudinally just above the tractor id this has a handwheel on its forward id. The screw is not stressed when the Litfit is in use as two retracting pegs on tch side locate the coupling in the position :lected. The pegs are retracted or inserted trough a linkage connected to the second andwheel. A pointer shows when each 3in. age of movement is reached so that the )upling can be locked in position.

Complete with lead-on ramps, the adjustable BTC coupling costs £176, fitted, as compared to the corresponding price for a standard BTC coupling of £110. The adjustable model is about 2cwt heavier than the fixed version.
