• An improvement in the joint annuity arrangements in respect of the BRS salaried staff superannuation fund will be introduced following discussions between the TGWU and the National Freight Federation (NFU The management has accepted the TGWU view that the existing survivorship annuity arrangements are unsatisfactory in that an option for such an annuity only takes effect if the member died after 60. Proposed rule alterations will enable a member to opt with out medical examination for a survivorship annuity at any time after 54 years nine months and to be covered for a widow's pension from 55 onwards, subject to 10 years' membership having been completed.
