I N the year ending March 31 last, C.I.E., the Eire State transport company, had an operating loss even greater than the L1,696,000 for the preceding year. This was revealed last week by the Minister of Transport and Power, who added that even with increased rates, fares and charges there would be a gap of £1.22 m in a full year. The total operating loss for 1962-63 is expected to be around £1.8 m.; in announcing this the Minister said he was convinced that if the reorganization of C.I.E. had not taken place the loss would have been .EPr m. to £4 m.
