MR. R. P. BEDDOW has resigned from the board of London Coastal Coaches, Ltd., and their subsidiary, Samuelson New Transport Co., Ltd„ because of the pressure of other business. MR. A. F. R. CARLING, managing director, has been elected chairman, and MR. R. J. ELLERY has joined the board.
MR. H. J. BUTLER has been made a presentation by the Institute of British Carriage and Automobile Manufacturers in recognition of the many years he has served as a judge for the Institute's annual coachwork competitions. For many years Mr. Butler contributed articles on bodybuilding to The Commercial Motor.

MR. A. W. MORRISON, who joined Expandite, Ltd., last year as technical manager in charge of production and development, has been appointed a director.
MR. J. WORLEY, supervisor of the Boston bulk plant of the Esso Petroleum Co., Ltd., has retired after 32 years' service and is succeeded by MR. JOHN LOADES.
MR. W. G. W. BIRD, managing director of Blue Peter Retreads, Ltd., and director of the Wayne Rubber Co. (Pty.), Ltd., South Africa, has sailed for Durban and will be away from this country for six or seven weeks.
MR. F. R. PARKIN. north-western area manager of B.R.S. (Parcels), Ltd., has been appointed assistant manager of the south-eastern area. MR. W. H. EVANS, south-western area manager, has become manager of the north-western area.
MR. S. B. WILKS has succeeded MR. H. Howe GRAHAM as chairman of the Rover Co., Ltd. Mr. Graham remains a director. MR. L. G. D. FARMER, formerly deputy managing director, is now joint managing director with MR. MAURICE WILES, MR. S. E. BURLINGTON, director and general manager, ind MR. A. BARRATT, director and chief development engineer of the London subdivision of Smith's Motor Accessories, Ltd., flew to America on Tuesday to visit vehicle and accessory manufacturers in the U.S.A. and Canada.
MR. C. F. KLAPPER has succeeded MR. A. J. WEBB as chairman of the Metropolitan section of the Institute of Transport. The vice-chairmen are MR. S. G. HEARN, MR. A. WATSON and MR. W. L. IVES. MR. A. R. PARSELLE is honorary treasurer and M. C. F. KING honorary secretary.
MR. G. BOWDEN PARKES has relinquished his office as sales director of Small and Parkes, Ltd., pending his retirement at the end of the year. MR.
G. H. F. PARKES has been appointed sales director. MR. C. SLYMON has become sales manager of the new friction materials division, with Ma. R. B. ALLEN as assistant sales manager. MR. R. V. COLLINS, MR. J. CommAN and MR. A. WILD are departmental managers responsible for the motor trade, original equipment and fleet operators respectively. MR. W.. A. PARKES has become manager of the south-western area of the company. MR. J. K. BLAMEY has taken up a new appointment as traffic manager, and is succeeded as sales manager of the belting and webbing department by MR, H. SUTCLIFFE. •
