Anyone controlling the work of others will have to ensure that: • All work at height is properly planned and organised • Anyone working at height is competent • Risks are assessed • Appropriate work equipment is selected and used • Risks from fragile surfaces are controlled • Equipment for work at height is properly inspected and maintained The regulations also detail guard rails, working platforms, nets, air bags, work restraints, fall-arrest devices and ladders. Penalties for non-compliance range from an unlimited fine to two years in prison.
